Kinja'd!!!

So I’m watching this on TV right now (in French, God help me) and I have a burning question...

Skip ahead to 1:20 and answer me this: Who has packets of Sweet & Low in their bedroom, and for what purpose?

Hotel room. There’s a room service cart at the top of the screen. And a silver coffee tray at the bottom.

Ahh, didn’t notice. Wasn’t paying that much attention to anything but Nicole Kidman...

Amazing.

As a bilingual anglophone, watching an English film I’ve already seen (especially an older one) in French is particularly painful. It seems that dubbing has improved, but I still prefer seeing a film in its original language.

The more pressing question is where can you get some of those awesome bubble goggles they wear, and the answer is here.

I saw Basic Instinct dubbed into French. I din’t have a clue what was going on. My french friend: “those fucking americans always fucking and killing”.

Did you understand French when you saw it? That might explain the difficulty... ;-)

I saw V for Vendetta in German. At the time, I understood and could speak maybe 40-50 words. There was, unfortunately, a lot more dialog in that film than I expected...

The problem I have with most French dubbing is that it’s done in a sort of Universal French that will be understandable by anyone who speaks French worldwide. This leaves the translation a bit flat sometimes.

It’s awful. You should see XXX (the Vin Diesel movie) dubbed in French - unbelievably bad!

It had to choose between Jours de tonnerre or Coming to America dubbed in French. I needed something to distract me while folding the laundry, and there was no way I was gonna watch a good Eddie Murphy film in another language!

You wanted to watch it in French? (Possibility for regret arises) :P

I think sticking to the english version works best. Especially when the president starts talking to the 2 drivers about “japanese inspection”. One of the funniest, good scenes in a movie.

It’s what was playing... I didn’t bother checking the English channels ‘cause I’m lazy.

Yes I understood french quite well, the problem was that Michael Douglas and Kim Basinger had lips moving not in time with what sound was coming out of their mouths. And I was wanting for their next romp in the sheets.

The sync problem you get accustomed to with time.
